Design philosophy creates unique home

This seriously stylish new home with a family focus hits all the right notes. Open plan, timbered and light, it is a delight to be in. The owners commissioned Peta Davy, of Yellow Fox, to design a compact family home using Sthāpatya Veda design principles. Materials chosen had to be natural, non-toxic products suitable to the local climatic conditions. In the design of the kitchen, this has been interpreted with a mix of recycled timbers (benchtop made from recycled telegraph poles), stainless steel, timber veneer and paint finishes. The styling is undeniably contemporary but the mix of nature-inspired colours, textures and finishes lends a distinctly "natural" ambience to the ensemble.

Negative detail drawer handles and uncluttered clean lines and surfaces leave the colours and finishes to do all the talking. An undeniably cool home that was a pleasure to be part of.
