Devonport Kitchen: White Shaker Style

The owners of this beautifully restored villa commissioned us to design, manufacture and install a new kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and wardrobes. The kitchen design needed to be sympathetic to the surroundings, yet deliver all the conveniences and functionality of a modern kitchen.

Designer, Wayne Church, incorporated some classic visual elements and colours to achieve a look that links to the rest of the home. Shaker-style cabinets and doors, lacquered in white, and a large recycled kauri bench top were strong visual cues to a bygone era. White butchers tiles to the splash back, round metal drawer pulls, and overhead cupboards with a small window at the top of each complete the picture.

Modern conveniences like the built-in wall ovens, stainless steel bench top, and LED lighting look quite at home in this setting despite their modern-day heritage.

This is a successful kitchen design that relies on strong visual cues to give the kitchen an identity, and sense of place, in this classic restored villa setting.
