Hobsonville: Metro Retro Kitchen

The brief from our client for this kitchen was "retro-inspired contemporary". That might sound like an oxymoron, but mixed heritage can produce excellent results when designed properly.

Our designer has hit the right notes: a thoroughly modern layout and look, but with a touch of retro thanks to the use of tiled panels and splashback, the colour palette, and even the choice of timber: mahogany. Nothing screams retro, but these subtle visual cues link the look to another time, adding extra depth and interest to the design and ambience. 

Layout is functional, with generous spaces and a large island which doubles as a workbench and breakfast bar
